At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, the Actors' Playhouse Kiddie Costume Parade steps off at the Miracle Theatre on Miracle Mile. By then, Mictlán will have been under way at Ponce Circle Park for half an hour. Trick-or-treating on the Mile still has 90 minutes left. When it ends at 6, downtown restaurants and bars start pouring Halloween cocktails for the Drink-or-Treat crawl.
Halloween hasn't fallen on a Saturday in years, and the city's 2026 calendar is built for it. The afternoon events overlap, and the evening crawl starts at the same hour trick-or-treating ends. The Coral Gables Trolley runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day, which covers every hour on the schedule. One household can follow the day from a dog in a costume at 2 p.m. to a margarita on Giralda Plaza after dark without moving the car.
The Day, in Order
The city notes that its schedule is subject to change. As published, the afternoon and evening run like this:
- 2 p.m. The Halloween Doggie Costume Contest begins at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Avenue, and runs until 4. At the same hour, The Wizard of Oz goes up at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile.
- 3 p.m. Trick-or-Treat on the Mile opens. It's free, and participating Miracle Mile businesses hand out candy until 6.
- 3:30 p.m. Face painting and a balloon artist set up on the Mile.
- 3:45 p.m. The Actors' Playhouse Musical Miracles give a "Spooktacular" performance.
- 4 p.m. Mictlán, the Día de los Muertos celebration presented by the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami, opens at Ponce Circle Park and runs until 9.
- 4:30 p.m. The Kiddie Costume Parade starts from the Playhouse.
- 5 p.m. A magic show on Miracle Mile.
- 6 p.m. Trick-or-treating ends and Drink-or-Treat begins at participating restaurants and bars across downtown.
- 8 p.m. Jekyll & Hyde, rated PG-13, at the Playhouse.
- 10 p.m. The trolley's extended Halloween service ends.
The museum, the Mile and the theater cover the early afternoon. Ponce Circle takes over at 4, and the bars take over at 6. The two-hour stretch between 4 and 6 is the one that takes a decision.
Where the Hours Overlap
From 4 to 6 p.m., two different celebrations are running at once a short trolley ride apart. On Miracle Mile, the city's program is aimed at children: candy at storefronts, the costume parade at 4:30 and a magic show at 5. At Ponce Circle Park, the consulate is hosting traditional Mexican performances, music, dance and food.
The order of the two suits a family day. Trick-or-treating closes at 6, but Mictlán runs until 9. That leaves three more hours at Ponce Circle after the candy runs out, and the park is on the trolley line the city is running until 10. The city also says Freebee will be available that day.
The dog contest overlaps with the start of trick-or-treating in the same way. It runs from 2 to 4 at the museum on Aragon Avenue, so an owner can finish there and still reach the Mile for the 4:30 parade.
Mictlán at Ponce Circle
The consulate titled this year's celebration "Un umbral entre mundos," which means "a threshold between worlds." The program is set for Saturday, October 31, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Ponce Circle Park. The consulate's announcement promises ofrendas, music, dance, art and food, and says the full program will be released later.
The city's event page explains the consulate's role. For the Consulate General of Mexico, the Day of the Dead celebration is part of the cultural diplomacy that honors the ancestral heritage of Indigenous and pre-Hispanic peoples. That makes the 4 p.m. opening at Ponce Circle the day's change of register. Costumes and candy on the Mile give way to ofrendas and traditional performance in the city's best-known circle.
At 6 p.m., the Crawl Covers the Same Ground
Drink-or-Treat is the evening event, and it isn't new. The Miami Moms listed it in its Miami Halloween Events Guide 2024, and the city's 2025 Halloween announcement promoted it again. The 2026 version is self-guided and needs no ticket. Participating restaurants and bars serve Halloween cocktails, festive bites and happy-hour specials from 6 p.m.
The new part this year is a souvenir glass. Pick up a punch map card at your first stop and collect a punch with each drink you buy. After three participating locations, the card earns a limited-edition Drink-or-Treat glass. Glasses are first-come, first-served and only available at certain restaurants, which are marked on the event map.
The city's list of about 28 venues falls into three clusters. The first is the same Miracle Mile where children were trick-or-treating an hour earlier:
| Cluster | Selected stops and their published specials |
|---|---|
| Miracle Mile | 450Gradi at 130 Miracle Mile, with all drinks $10 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Ami Ami at 318 Miracle Mile, with a red-wine Blood Moon; John Martin's at 253 Miracle Mile, which runs its Halloween Bar; Salumeria 104 at 117 Miracle Mile, with $10 Trick-or-Tinis; Sushi Sake at 230 Miracle Mile, with a $15 rosemary Lucifer Margarita |
| Giralda Plaza | Aromas del Peru at 110 Giralda Plaza, with a butterfly-pea Beetlejuice; Cebada Rooftop at 124 Giralda Plaza, with happy hour from 5 to 8; Costazul at 160 Giralda Plaza, with $12 cocktails and Jalea de Corvina for $15; Coyo Taco, Eating House and The Bar |
| Ponce de Leon and beyond | Fleming's at 2525 Ponce de Leon Blvd.; Fogo de Chão at 2801 Ponce de Leon Blvd., with a $14 Wicked Coco Caipirinha and pão de queijo; Five Iron Golf at 3009 Ponce de Leon Blvd., with a DJ; Hotel Colonnade Lobby Bar at 180 Aragon Ave.; Bouchon Bistro at 2101 Galiano St.; Pizza Bear at 1831 Ponce de Leon Blvd. |
Some of these venues start before the crawl does. El Ñaño Miami at 339 Miracle Mile runs an extended happy hour from 3 to 9 p.m., so it overlaps the whole trick-or-treat window. Eating House on Giralda Plaza has a DJ from 4 to 7. Americana Kitchen's menu includes the Phantom Fizz, a nonalcoholic lychee drink. The city notes that venues and specials may change and that more locations may be added.
The Last Trolley, and After It
The trolley stops at 10 p.m. The Miami Moms' event listing shows Drink-or-Treat running until 10 as well. Jekyll & Hyde starts at 8, so anyone heading home from the Playhouse after the show should plan for the trolley ending at 10.
After the trolley, Freebee is the city's option. These are free, on-demand rides in electric vehicles, booked through the Ride Freebee app. The city's Freebee page lists Friday and Saturday hours as 10 a.m. to midnight. It also gives a dispatch number for riders without a smartphone or who need accessibility accommodations. Those are the standard published hours rather than a Halloween schedule, so check the app on the night.
The Friday After
Downtown's next big night is Friday, November 6. Giralda Live takes over Giralda Plaza at 120 Giralda Avenue from 7 to 11 p.m. Pamir y La Pachanguísima, a Latin ensemble led by Pamir Guanchez, plays from 8 to 10, with dining, local artists and vendors. Some of the Drink-or-Treat bars on Giralda Plaza will be open that night too.
Gables Gallery Night falls on the same evening. Downtown galleries and art venues open from 6 to 10 p.m. on the first Friday of the month, and the city suggests using the trolley or Freebee to get between them. Galleries open at 6 and the plaza fills at 7, so the two events overlap for most of the evening.
Daytime has its own option through mid-November. Coral Market runs at the Merrick House, 907 Coral Way, through November 14. Vendors sell vintage housewares, furniture, fashion and collectibles on the grounds of one of the city's most significant historic homes, and their fees go directly to the house.
If you'd like to talk about the architecture of downtown Coral Gables, or what it means to own a home a trolley ride from Ponce Circle, the team at Carmenate / Duchon is glad to book a private consultation.
